The oxeye daisy is a widespread flowering plant native to Europe. It became an introduced species via gardens into natural areas in parts of the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. In some habitats it is an invasive species forming dense colonies displacing native plants. It is a typical grassland perennial wildflower, growing in a variety of plant communities including meadows and fields, under scrub and open-canopy forests, and in disturbed areas. It isn't toxic but the plant can cause contact allergies. The game "He loves me, he loves me not" is associated with this flower. It blooms from late spring to autumn. The scientific name is from Ancient Greek and means white flower.
