Despite the name the Siberian Squill originates in the Caucasus, Iran, Turkey and South Russia. Like many spring flowers the squill is dispersed by ants. Ants are animated by a nutritious adjunct of the seeds to take the seeds away. At undisturbed sites they can grow wild and form mass stands. The bell-shaped, slightly trailing flowers form a blue sea of blossoms.
