The scent of lavender is reminiscent of the south of France, where it grows abundantly in the summer months. Many years ago the Romans used lavender to make bath-essences. Lavender grows best on dry lime-rich soil. It can be propagated by cuttings or seeds. Lavender plants are small bushes which can nearly one meter high. To extract the fragrance different lavender species will be used. The most used species is the Lavandin, a natural hybrid between the Common lavender and the Spike lavender.
