The orange Hawkweed is a wild flower, native to alpine regions of central and southern Europe. Another name for it is Devil's Paintbrush. The plants propagate vegetatively through shallow rhizomes and overgrow great areas in short time. A legend says, that the hawk get his good eyes from the Hawkweed. The orangered Flowers get visit by butterflies with the same colour, like the Small Tortoiseshell or the Scarce Copper.
