Description

Snowdrops are bulbous plants and they produce the first flowers in the year. With their flowers the early spring begins. They reproduce through offset bulbs or seed. The seeds, to which a large, fleshy growth containing nutrients is attached, are collected and distributed by ants. They produce so-called biological heat of 8 to 10°C, which melts snow from leaves and stalks. They originate from Europe and south-western Asia. In America they are not native. They prefer wet, shady places and chalky soil.

Additional Information

  1. They can only be bred to the same species.
